Our Story

About BAAZ: BUET Alumni of Arizona

BUET Alumni of Arizona (BAAZ) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to fostering connections among graduates from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) who reside in the state of Arizona, USA.

Purpose

BAAZ’s primary purpose is to create a platform for alumni to connect, contribute to the community, and promote science and technology. We aim to give back to Arizona, BUET, and Bangladesh while fostering a professional liaison among Bangladeshi Americans working in the technology sector.

Prohibition of Distributions

BAAZ is committed to its mission, and no part of its net income, assets, or other resources shall be distributed to individual members, officers, or any private persons. All resources will be utilized solely for the organization’s purposes.

Dissolution Clause

In the unlikely event of BAAZ’s dissolution, all remaining assets—after necessary expenses—are to be distributed to one or more non-profit organizations with similar purposes. The determination of recipients will be made by the Executive Committee.

Fundraising and Donations

BAAZ actively engages in fundraising activities and accepts donations to support its non-profit mission. All funds raised are used to further our goals and objectives.

Financial Transparency

The Executive Committee maintains transparent financial records, accessible to all BAAZ members upon request. Additionally, an annual financial report is provided to the general membership.

Charitable Activities

BAAZ is committed to making a positive impact. We actively participate in charitable activities, including volunteering, community service, and supporting educational initiatives aligned with our non-profit mission.

Compliance with Laws

Operating in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations governing non-profit organizations, BAAZ ensures transparency, integrity, and adherence to ethical standards.

Annual Review

Our Finance Director/Treasurer conducts an annual review of BAAZ’s non-profit status and compliance with relevant regulations. The results are presented to the general membership.

Grant Applications

BAAZ seeks grants and funding opportunities to support its activities, with the understanding that all acquired funds will be used exclusively for non-profit purposes.

This constitution underscores BAAZ’s unwavering commitment to its non-profit status, ensuring that all our endeavors serve the greater good of the community and align with our charitable objectives.

Constitution

BAAZ adheres to a constitution adopted in May 2024. The process for amending this constitution is as follows:

Proposal

Amendments to this constitution may be proposed by the Executive Committee or through a petition signed by at least 20% of the BAAZ membership.

Approval

Amendments require a two-thirds majority vote by the general membership.

As BAAZ members engage in the democratic process, their collective decisions pave the way for growth, relevance, and responsiveness. This constitution underscores BAAZ’s unwavering commitment to its non-profit status, ensuring that all our endeavors serve the greater good of the community and align with our charitable objectives.
