Promoting Fairness and Justice: BAAZ’s Statement on BCS Quota Protests

As an organization dedicated to promoting science, technology, and professional growth among Bangladeshi Americans, BUET Alumni of Arizona (BAAZ) stands in solidarity with the general students of Bangladesh who are advocating for a fair and merit-based recruitment system in the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).

We recognize the importance of ensuring equal opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their background. The recent reinstatement of the BCS quota system has raised legitimate concerns among the student community about fairness and meritocracy. We believe that a balanced approach that considers both merit and the need to support underrepresented groups is essential for the progress of our nation.

We are deeply saddened by the reports of violence and loss of life during the protests. We urge all parties involved to engage in constructive dialogue and seek peaceful resolutions to the ongoing unrest. It is crucial that the voices of the students are heard and their concerns addressed in a manner that upholds justice and equality.

We call for an immediate end to violence, police aggression, and the killing of innocent students. We demand that adequate measures be taken to punish the criminals and masterminds behind the attacks on students.

BAAZ remains committed to supporting initiatives that foster professional growth and development for Bangladeshi Americans and contributing to the betterment of Bangladesh. We hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to the current situation.
